Peninsula Lifestyle Retirement Village is a family-owned company, comprising Allan Walker, the sole Director of Heatherlea Properties Pty Ltd, working with his daughter Beth Walker, Peninsula Lifestyle Retirement Village’s sales and marketing manager. Beth Walker has over 20 years’ experience in customer service in the fashion and retail industries and offers clients friendly, down-to-earth service aimed at making retirement villa investment a breeze.

Heatherlea Properties Pty Ltd has been passionately involved in the retirement village industry for more than 30 years, contributing to many of Melbourne’s most successful retirement properties including large joint-venture projects.

A Unique, Bespoke Retirement Village

Peninsula Lifestyle Retirement Village is unique: a bespoke, more refined village concept comprising just 52 units. The village is now being built on the site of the former Heatherlea Nursery in Baxter, Victoria.

Allan Walker is particularly proud of the village’s design philosophy, which marries a unique garden and pedestrian-friendly boutique village layout with ultra high quality construction materials including Daniel Robison bricks, fully-imported terra-cotta roofing tiles and creature comforts such as double-glazed windows and underfloor bathroom heating. The low-maintenance designs offer private garden areas with access to community gardens and a private clubhouse for residents.

Allan says the concept was based in part on the celebrated ‘The Old Colonists’ retirement village built in Carlton in 1869 – the first of its kind in Australia and now heritage-listed. Peninsula Lifestyle Retirement Village echoes the Colonists’ circular village plan, with all residents looking onto shared pedestrian access.

Lasting Value

‘I think it’s very important for mums to see the passing parade,’ says Allan, so the shared village life and landscaped garden views create a very sociable environment. ‘Residents won’t be stuck between four walls; they will feel connected to their community.’

Allan says Australian retirement living had until now been mostly utilitarian, but now people expect a higher build quality including luxurious features.

Allan and Beth Walker are both proud to offer a unique range of premium villas that will provide great comfort and will not age – a tribute to the quality materials used and assuring owners of greater investment value and re-sale potential.

‘The quality and appearance of the village will not deteriorate at all,’ says Allan.
